Chakrabongse Villas: on the grounds of a former royal residence

CHAKRABONGSE VILLAS ★★★★★

The street noise is left behind and forgotten once you enter the tall gates of the Chakrabongse Villas (วิลล่าจักรพงษ์). This luxury hotel, built in 1908, is a majestic example of a traditional Thai home. It has been meticulously preserved to look just like it did when it was used as a royal residence in the early 1900s.

The villa was built as a refuge from palace life by Prince Chakrabongse (พระยาจักรพงษ์), hence its name, in 1908. Today, under the guidance of his granddaughter Narisa, the premises along with its gardens have encountered new life as an incomparable boutique hotel that reflects both her family members’ noble history as well as her profound recognition of Thai cuisine, culture, and art.

From the teak walls to silk pillows to rattan chairs and plaid blankets, you are sure to delight in this rustic design. The hotel has a superb view of the Temple of Dawn and the Grand Palace and also Wat Po is only a few steps from the hotel. The lively Khaosan Road (ถนนข้าวสาร) is also only 1.7 km from the hotel. Moreover, you will love the street food served in the vicinity along with the coffee houses and the adorable cafes.

Its restaurant, from the riverside terrace, serves authentic Thai cuisine from the palace kitchens using original and traditional recipes. As a perfect initiation to the complexities and delicate flavor perceptions at the essence of Thai cuisine, they offer the daily degustation meal menu. This menu for dinner changes every day.

A true oasis in the busy Bangkok. Ideal location, outstanding staff, genuine Thai food… Beautiful, very large rooms in a sumptuous setting. The experience on a long tail boat along the river is a must.
