Siam Paragon: the pride of Bangkok | Discovering Bangkok

Siam Paragon is one of the largest shopping malls in Bangkok and Thailand, apart from CentralWorld and ICONSIAM. Attracting millions of visitors annually from all across the globe, Siam Paragon is a world-class shopping destination. Being one of the most photographed malls on Instagram and the like, it is one of the most popular and favorite landmarks in the area.

Location

The Siam area is replete of shopping malls. The enormous Siam Paragon is located on Rama I Road (
ถนนพระรามที่ 1) in Pathum Wan District (
เขตปทุมวัน) opposite to Siam Square, in close vicinity to Siam Center and Siam Discovery both along with Siam Paragon under the umbrella of One Siam brand. This particular stretch on Rama I Road is also known as the shopping mile for housing around 5000 shops.

Siam Paragon is linked to Siam BTS station (สถานีสยาม) with a sky-bridge. One can easily get here by the BTS Skytrain service. To welcome the huge incoming traffic, the mall has a mammoth parking space to accommodate more than 4000 vehicles.

History

The mall was inaugurated in December 2005 and stands on the leased land of the Crown Property Bureau. It’s a joint venture by Siam Piwat and The Mall Group which cost around US$450 million.

Experience

A welcoming plaza with a soothing fountain is strategically built in front of Siam Paragon. No doubt, this is a popular meeting and selfie point.

As you enter the L shaped gallery, an array of high-end worldwide stores and restaurants open up. Flagship stores of designer brands such as Prada, Gucci, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Paul Smith, Balenciaga, Fendi, Valentino, Chanel, Armani, Versace, Hugo Boss, Dolce & Gabbana, Celine, Cartier as well as other famous jewelry and perfumes brands, are grouped around the principal escalators in prime positions with elaborate window exhibits each competing for exposure.

The main attractions are the 15-large-screen multiplex, Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World Aquarium, Opera Concert Hall, and the Thai Art Gallery. The multiplex includes IMAX and VIP theaters with comfortable reclining sofas and blankets.

Blu-O Rhythm & Bowl on the 5th floor features a bowling alley with 38 lanes and 12 karaoke rooms, as well as a restaurant and bar service.

Sea Life takes you into a marine journey through an underwater tunnel. The entry ticket for the same is a bit higher for outside tourists.

The mall also has an extensive department store in the middle which is largely dedicated to Thai fashion designers. Additionally, you’ll find all the reputed top-notch fashion brands here, including the sports apparel, equipment and footwear like Nike and Adidas among others.

Expensive luxurious automobiles also share the space. Hold your heart while you walk across a Rolls Royce or a Fendi by chance. Now you see why it’s referred to as the upper-class market.

Whether you shop or not may be debatable, but the endless array of food stalls and restaurants are bound to attract you with their welcoming aroma. The lower floors and the 4th floor are packed with food joints ranging from local cuisines to world-famous delicacies. This dining venue attracts locals and tourists alike.

Another cool attraction on level 5 is the KidZania. Kids below 15 are exposed to interactive learning through realistic role-play. They can choose from among 100’s of exciting career options. They learn to fix cars, cook their favorite meal, or extinguish a fire in an orchestrated safe environment.

The Royal Paragon Hall is an ultimate exhibition and convention venue inside the mall. With a whooping capacity of 5000 people, it hosts all kinds of conventions and exhibitions.

It is not without a reason why locals and International shoppers consistently vote Siam Paragon as their favorite shopping destination year after year. With a lot of options under one roof, it doesn’t hurt to spend some time here snacking and shopping.
